Young People's Health
Since opening, Log-in has worked closely with Argyll & Clyde Health Board and our local health centre to promote healthy lifestyles among young people and encourage awareness of their health and well being. This has taken a number of forms; from aerobics, skating, climbing and self defence classes for the Girls night to football tournaments over the summer holidays. Future plans include linking with Sport & Leisure to provide informal basketball, football and netball sessions (all requested by Log-in users).
Other work has included:
Log-in's
"Doc on line" project: Young people can email health problems to a
doctor from Barrhead Health Centre and receive a confidential reply giving advice
on what they should do next. This is a pilot project in partnership with the
health centre that will hopefully go some way to redressing the problem of young
people, especially young men, not going to the doctor with health problems until
the problem has begun to have a serious affect on their health.

The Health information section of the Log-in drop-in area, an information wall giving young people access to the health information they want. Drugs Education outreach work in local schools. Support to Magic Wand's Breakfast Club in Carlibar Primary School: Log-in provided the technical help to compile and publish a Magic Wand comic created by the children attending the breakfast club promoting healthy eating for young people. Log-in has also provided a sessional worker to lead breakfast club drama workshops. |
