Log-in is the Internet cafe for everyone under the age of 25 in East Renfrewshire. Since it opened its doors on Barrhead Main Street in February 99 it is used by more and more young people for an increasing diversity of purposes. The Cafe receives over 33,000 visits each year. The facility is a permanent , mainline project with an annual budget of £330,000.

All sorts of young people use Log-in. Some just drop in to use the cafe or play computer games with their friends, Scouts and Brownies discover the Internet, pre-school youngsters try out early learning CD ROMs. Young Skillseekers achieve recognised qualifications and unemployed young people access training and links to further education. The Cafe area and Youth Library gives Log-in its unique atmosphere. It's a space where young people can relax, meet up with friends or just watch MTV and flick through the latest books and magazines. Vending machines provide hot drinks and snacks and a large selection of board games are available free to members for those rainy Saturday afternoons. |

Young people have been closely involved in every stage of Log-in's development, as part of Log-in's management committee they have had a major role in deciding everything from how the cafe looks to the information, training and outreach activities on offer.
All young people joining get a free Log-in photo membership card which can be used as a library card both in Log-in's youth library and in most East Renfrewshire School and Community libraries. Members also have the opportunity to create their own email address, emailing friends (even if they are only sitting four terminals away) and Internet chat have proven as popular as computer gaming.
